Motorised Roller
Techtonic PV
Techtonic PV non retractable blinds with integrated power supply
Techtonic PV take free energy from the sun as a power source to harness that same energy reducing solar gain and controlling light thus saving energy.
Techtonic PV comes with an inbuilt radio receiver that can be activated by battery operated wall switch or hand-held controller.
For the most efficient operation it can be interfaced with building or home management controls and sensors.
Techtonic Non-Retractable
The techtonic system has been specifically designed for roof applications, both internal and external. With a range of aluminium and timber louvres it can be manually or electrically operated and linked into automatic radio remote controls.
Techtonic louvres supported from aluminium rack arms prevent the problem of sagging with can occur with retractable blinds. Techtonic is a very robust product that is virtually maintenance free.
T50W wood blinds
once installed the fully adjustable louvres reduce solar heat gain, control glare, allow outward vision and ensure the use of natural light. For conservatories the combined insulating properties and traditional natural look make Techtonic T50W wood blinds a beautiful yet highly functional choice.
Techtonic AV88
A version of our Techtonic range is designed to dim-out rooflight in audio visual rooms and for light control in art galleries it can be fitted internally or externally and is usually motorised. The louvres are of extruded aluminium that interlock.
Roof light roller blinds
We do not generally recommend this except for small areas (less than 2 sq.m) such as Velux windows.
For larger windows or where access is difficult we consider that the risk of high maintenance cost if the material is caught or rolls over could result in an unsatisfactory installation however well made and fitted.
Our recommendations is non-retractable blinds. The only exception is in photographic studios where stripping from light penetration around the louvres would affect the photography. That is the only situation that we would propose larger rooflight roller blinds.

Titan Mega

Large glazed areas
Titan mega blinds are the ultimate in balance for large glazed areas. Once installed the fully adjustable louvres reduce solar heat gain, control glare, allow privacy with outward vision and ensure the best use of natural lighting.
Gear operated or Electric and child safety
The sturdy louvres are available in a wide range of colours. Titan Blinds are motorised or gear operated so are inherently child safe. Commercially they are the obvious solution for large glazed areas in curtain walled entrances and facades.
Titan mega AV84
With a louvre profiles that interlocks for dim-out it suits AV presentations. The formed shaped of the titan AV84 Louvres allow a tighter closure between them. Titan Mega AV Blinds dim the light level down for slide shows and can also be angled to reflect light in the same way as a standard mega blind.
Venetian Blind - Lumax Light Shelf
Lumax the light shelf blind has been designed to maximise all available natural light. On the one hand lumax blinds ensure zones that are sun and glare free but on the other hand they let in enough brightness. Screening to protect VDU screen can significantly reduce light levels to a dim and depressing level. No sunlight in a room can lead to lethargy and tiredness.
Lumax works by reflecting daylight through its top louvres onto the celling whilst the remaining louvres stay closed. This diffuses the light and eliminates glare. The blind can still be raised and closed like a standard blind yet natural light levels are up to 3 times greater.
Mini & Micro Blinds
Mini and micro blinds regulate light incidence and room temperature in the most modern and practical way possible as well as safeguarding privacy. They are practical and easy to operate with a cord and wand or they can be motorised.
Choose from an extensive range of solid colours as well as metallic and patterned effects that make a stunning sharp statement or use more subtle colours to co-ordinate with the furnishings.

The frame us secured with clips that fit between the window frame and glass and avoid the need for any drilling or fixing into the window.
Classic Motorised Venetian
With just one push of a button you can operate your blinds individually or in unison. Electric operation is the most efficient means of controlling blinds especially if they are at high level or there are several in the room.
As there are no looped cords, motorised blinds are ideal for children’s rooms.
The motor that controls both the tilt and the raise and lower, is neatly concealed within the headrail. Available with our full colour range of aluminium louvres from 25mm and 50mm widths.
For the maximum energy saving benefit Classic blinds should be linked to an automatic control system.
For smaller windows our slimstyle version is available with low voltage motors that can also be battery operated.
Classic dual control
The standard blinds that have a cord to raise and lower the blinds and a separate tilt wand or cord control to adjust the louvre angle. The classic blind is the most robust of our horizontal. Its traditional design has conventional cord operation. It is ideally suited to commercial areas where heavier use can be expected.
Classic dual has separate controls for tilt and raise and lower and is made to a standard of quality and design that has proven reliability over many decades. The large section steel headrail has durable components with metal bearing surfaces – the ensures that classic dual is suitable for specification in any situation.
Three widths of aluminium slat are available, 25, 35 and 50mm with wood slat available in 25 and 50mm widths. A comprehensive range of ladder braids and support tapes make traditional or contemporary effects achievable. By using 40mm wide ladder taping on wood 50’s for aluminium blinds.
Classic Mono venetian
Ideally suited to larger windows and areas where heavy can be expected such as school and open plan offices.
Operation is with a cranked rod that can be detachable That drive a heavy duty gearbox that ensures a smooth, light and easy operation of large blinds. The operation is inherently child safe.
Classic dual AV (Audio Visual)
Have a dual function – dim-out conditions for audio visual demonstrations with the benefits of a conventional sunblind between presentations.
A guide section around the blinds masks direct light from around the edge of the slats.
The guides have PVC inserts for noise reduction and a neoprene strip fitted behind them to seal irregularities in the wall surface. Between presentations light levels in the room can be adjusted by tilting the louvres.
Motorised roller blind

They can even think for themselves reacting to the changing weather conditions automatically maximising their energy efficiency with our range of controls.
The motors are neatly concealed within the roll are mains voltage although smaller windows can be low voltage.
Motorised blinds do not have any operating cords and are ideal for areas used by young children.
Barnsbury motorised roller xxl
Barnsbury Roller XXL is a heavy duty roller blind system fabricated from material and fabrics designed for external use and whilst normally applied internally it can be used both inside and outside with size limitations.
It is very effective in double skin facades where the inner core is exposed to the elements for natural ventilation.
The solar gain rejection properties between the façade are almost comparable to external shading with Gtot figures better than 0.15 (85% heat rejection) for many of the fabric styles and colours.
Finsbury xxl gear operated Specification
Finsbury xxl gear operated roller blind
The only solution for manual operation on larger windows. As they do not have operating cords, they are also ideal for areas that are used by young children.
The most robust option for manual blinds they are ideally suited to schools, hospitals and other areas of heavier use. They have a cranked rod drive connected to a gear box drive to wind the blind up and down.
In public areas the rod can be detachable to prevent unauthorised use.
Door panel roll up
Suitable for doors where there is no space for the roller brackets. It is ideal for use to dim-out on door vision panels where a roller blind could not be fitted.
The blind does not have a mechanism and is securely fitted to the door so is less prone to damage. A timber lath in the top of the fabric is fixed to the door. A fabric tab with a turn button plate is fixed to the back of the lath. On the door below the glass there is a stud.
The bottom rail of the blinds has a tab and lift a dot that fits the stud and holds the blind in position when lowered. The blind is raised by hand rolling it and securing by drawing the tab around the roll and holding in position with the turn button that is fitted on or above that lath.
Simple and basic but it is a robust and works. It is suited to areas used by young children as it does not have operating cords.
Automatic Spring roller
The blind can be position to any height by pulling it down and gently releasing and it will lock in place. The ratchets are released by a gentle pull on the cord and the blind is raised by the spring. Rollers are now made of aluminium.
For UPVC window a neat system that does not require screw fixing that could damage the frames is a perfect fit.
Spring roller blinds do not have looped cords and are suitable for area such as bedrooms and nurseries and other places frequented by young children provided the cord pull length is not longer that 200mm. For high windows longer cords are only possible in commercial buildings are young children do not normally have access.

Self acting spring
For use when the cloth has to be held under tension in sloping windows or velux type rooflights.
The spring is not held by ratchets so the blind is held in position by tying off the cleats. Pulleys are needed to guide the cords.
Flange Edge
Is the traditional equivalent of the easi-roll. A flange is fitting to the end of the roller around which the cord is wound. Releasing the cord (gently) allows the blind to drop by gravity. Pulling the cord raises the blind and it is secure in position by tying off to a cleat.
Cap and rack
A period system still used for long drop windows in National trust properties. The blind is drawn down against the spring with a normal centre draw cord. The Ratchet is on the end of the roller. A cam on the is attached to a cord that drops at the side of the blind. Pulling the cord releases the ratchet to allow the blind to raise the centre cord should also be held so that the blind does not fly up cartoon style. These blinds do not have looped cords and are suitable for areas such as bedrooms and nurseries and other places frequented by young children.
Dim out roller
Dim out blinds are an option for Audio Visual rooms and school laboratories where darkening for slide shows is adequate. In bedrooms, especially children’s room where evening summer sun will prevent sleep and an early dawn will be less than welcome, they can be more practical than curtaining.
The fabric is 100% blackout PVC coated fiberglass that is flame retardant. It is fitted to an easi roll or Automatic spring roller. For large blinds or areas needing inherently child safe products gear operation with a cranked rod or motorised blinds are available. Any colour as long as it is black? No we have a wide colour range of plains and patterns.
Fitting
Ideally it is fitted outside of the window reveal so that the cloth is at least 75mm wider that the opening at the side and top. The wall then block direct light from round the sides of the blind. If fitted in reveal unless there is a deep window frame, direct light will be seen at the edges as depending on the blind size, the cloth will be at least 20mm narrower than the opening size.
Reducing light
A lining at the top and sides can be used to reduce this light. Hallmark side masking is from 75x25mm aluminium angle or 70x20mm timber with a 30x30mm fixing fillet. A fabric pelmet or a Cassette roller blind box are alternative options for the top. If linings are formed during the building works they must have smooth edges where the cloth might touch them.
An effect of dim out is that because the cloth is 100% black out when the blind is pulled down as your eyes adjust to a lower light level the light around the edges will become more exaggerated. If a better seal is needed an Ebony dark blind should be considered.
Boxed Dark Blind
The Ebony dark blind has been designed to give maximum light exclusion when lowered. When raised the guides give a very neat appearance and permit the maximum entry of light into the room when the blind is raised.
The blind box is robustly constructed from extruded aluminium sections white powder coated to give a high-quality finish and protection.
The PVC coated fiberglass fabric is 100% black out and flame retardant.
The characteristics of the Ebony make it a popular choice for lecture theatres, schools and hospitals. Operation is with an electric motor that is concealed in the box or manually with a cranked rod.
Suitable for use in areas used by young children as they do not have operating cords.
Vertical louvre
Louvrestyle offers a variety of fabrics and weaves in fiberglass and polyester materials that can be selected in widths of 89 and 127mm. The colour range offers extensive scope to the designer.
To control screen glare materials and colours with a low visible transmission (Tvis) should be selected to diffuse the light.
The louvres are securely fixed to a substantial slimline aluminium headrail and to ensure that they hang square are linked with a beaded cord on each side of tensioning weights. A nylon wand is a child safe control that draws the louvres across the blind and tilts them to any angle through 340° and to open and close them.
Panel Blind
The fabric is arranged in up to 4 panels that draw on a curtain type track. The panels are often of a mesh fabric to allow outward vision.
They are weighted with an aluminium bottom rail and are hand drawn with a pull rod so are suited to areas used by young children.
Pleated Blinds
A fabric blind with 25mm folds that is pulled up with a concertina effect. Most suited to domestic applications it is fitted to a headrail and is cord operated with a cord lock to hold the blind up.
A double layer honeycomb fabric is available where the trapped layer of air between the pleats improves the winter heat retention performance and enhances the acoustic characteristics.

An extensive range of standard control systems is available with custom design for more complex requirements.
Control systems can be made to perform virtually any sequence of functions. It is up to the specifier to identify the priorities and choose the one best suited to the job.
Control systems offer the designer uniformity and building temperature control that can make significant savings in air conditioning and thus energy costs.
Automation ensures that the blinds are in position to secure the maximum benefit from energy saving shading strategies.
